Israeli company is building a road that charges electric vehicles in Detroit
- 1letterunixname 3y agoExtremely expensive, difficult to monetize, and only helps a small fraction of vehicles specifically equipped at an added cost. The US has far more homeless people, underfunded police departments like Detroit, lack of universal healthcare and the suggestion of spending trillions on things that don't do most good for the most people sounds particularly selfish and tone-deaf. While not completely "Solar Frickin' Roadways", it's not the most pressing infrastructure investment when there are bridges on the verge of collapse.
- _aavaa_ 3y agoIdk, I’d say induction charging roads are as ridiculous as solar roadways. “Wireless electric road charging has long been hailed as a potential holy grail for widespread electric vehicle adoption.” Hailed by who?? The people who run this company? This is a solution in search of a problem.
- fortyseven 3y agoWow, that's a long distance to send electricity! /s
- heroprotagonist 3y agoI can see this becoming the slowest road in Detroit..
