If it were four or six inches, it would give you three/two clicks = 1 foot, and it can’t be because both sizes are impractical, as four inches is very close to 10 cm (actually 11,6cm) I guess it doesn’t really matter, as this thing isn’t practical for most length measurements (lack of precision for shorter distances, awkward to use for larger ones)
