Paul Graham wrote "31 Israeli and at least 3600 Palestinian children killed"
- jjgreen 3y agoI don't get it, are those numbers disputed?
- catlover76 3y agoI think the only legitimate dispute would be that maybe more Israeli children were killed in the Oct 7 attacks? That seems like a reasonable and probably accurate criticism to me. The article doesn't seem that well-written and seems a little all over the place.
- upofadown 3y agoA quick search revealed that the Israeli government has not released the number of children killed in the October 7 attacks. Which is kind of odd...
- coding123 3y agoIt was missing the context.
- jjgreen 3y agoIt was a tweet (or whatever they're called now), how much context could you fit in one of those?
- coding123 3y agoMaybe a URL? A shortened one?
- catlover76 3y agoA lot of the statements that we've all seen have mourned only the Israeli dead, and have said zero about the death of Palestinian innocents or the "context" of the conflict, so I just don't see this as being a particularly legitimate or persuasive criticism.

USD in aid spent per child killed (per conflict, per party) (Meanwhile thousands of kids have been taken from Ukraine to Russia, too)
- catlover76 3y agoI'm honestly not sure what point you are trying to make to me or what those abbreviations even mean
- bell-cot 3y ago[sigh/] Stay away from the 3rd rail, Paul. You can't make the world any better that way, but you can certainly make your own life worse.
- k310 3y agoEver since the war in Vietnam, I have detested "body count." One is too many, and comparisons lack humanity. People are not numbers.
