When I was house hunting I saw a house built in the mid-90's that the range vent vented into the kitchen. They did a lot of deep frying and every surface besides the counter was coated in grease. Like I can understand it not being required on existing houses from years earlier but how was a house built in the 90's with that... Also seen ones that vented to the attic with pretty gross results in the attic too.
