The US is quietly arming Taiwan to the teeth
- sgu999 3y agoIt is interesting to note that even the KMT is (overall) not seeking reunification with China, nor is the DPP seeking official recognition of Taiwan as an independent country at the expense of peace. What seems to be a consensus here is that the Taiwanese are better off keeping the status quo, with the cursor for political division being swaying more towards China or more towards the west. The only way I can explain the narrative of the left in France (for instance JL. Mélenchon), the UK (Craig Murray etc.), the US (Noam Chomsky): absolute anti-Americanism and a pinch of racism, the locals are simply too dumb to know what is in their best interest. The Taiwanese have built a very progressive and open society against all odds and against everyone, it should be obvious that they are perfectly capable of not being dragged in a war they don't want.

Yeah, they have progressive open society against their neighbours, so they should seek peace and bend to the will of their open and progressive neighour. You know, to so that they are not killed by unknown green men seeking to liberate them.
