Water freezing around 0 is a good indicator that the temperature is cold enough to kill you given that you're mostly water.
If I'm dividing a length of wood in thirds, I use my metric ruler, and I mark out three even cuts. It's crazy how they sold me a 2x4 in feet and it still divided into centimeters.
