I have my computer on 24/7 and I probably use it at all hours of the day. Several times I have tried to use those wireless keyboards and mice, especially when they advertise 'up to six months of use' but invariably they run out of battery within a week or two. My solution, as the OP found, is to just plug in a USB wired keyboard and mouse. Problem solved! (I have a desk with monitor, keyboard, etc. Why would I bother having a wireless keyboard or mouse, anyway? What advantage would that bring?)
