Rethinking "Driverless Cars"
- gardenfelder 3y ago"So there is a three-way distinction: Self-driving Driver-assist Remotely-assisted driving"
- h2odragon 3y agothe cynics was right again, the "self driving" was a scam the whole time. And its a real tragedy because there'd have been a market for "remote controlled cars," there was no need to taint the space with overblown claims other than "get that investor money first." Personally, I do not want to own a vehicle that has the physical capability of remote / autonomous control of any aspect of its operation. It is a complete mystery to me why others do not have the same reservations.
- starbase 3y agoWould be interesting to know the typical duration of a remote intervention on a Cruise vehicle. I read that Cruise vehicles are controlled remotely about 3% of the time. Does that mean a 10-minute intervention every 5 hours, or a 10-second intervention every 5 minutes?
