To be clear, we don't have a simple rice cooker. We have one of these terrible UX rice cookers with a shit ton of buttons and settings. But we ignore all that and just do the thumb-level of water and hit the button that says cook (and also says like three other things too, but whatever). We ignore the other buttons.
