I agree Utilitarianism is a crock, largely because of the obvious impossibility of agreeing on what constitutes total utility. But to claim Utilitarians equate utility with pleasure is an unfair caricature.
- namaria 3y agoBiggest lie there is the pretense of fungibility in utility, when individuals can't even be temporally consistent in their definition. I mean, Dutch book is a big component of how the economy at large traps people in poverty.
