Is it common in other professions for senior colleagues to opine so lengthily, definitively and frequently about not only every little detail about others' work practices, but their non-work life too? There's no end of blog posts like this where someone who's been around a bit (and sometimes not even that!) lays down the law about what's good and what isn't. And unless it's done with a lot of humility and nuance, my reaction is likely to be very negative, even if they're right (and/or I agree with them).
