This is… oh man I dislike this. This will only solidify the “chatgpt is a computer that knows things” mental model people have, which I think leads to insanely mistaken intuitions and complaints. There’s a reason OpenAI has been workshopping their “WARNING: any and all answers might be bullshit” message this whole time!

You’re worried people think LLMs are like databases that store information? Don’t worry. Anyone worth their salt in this space is doing RAG, using LLMs as a reasoning engine.

  Yeah but no one’s worth their salt yet :(. The retrieval algos of bing and bard are subpar at best, and often don’t trigger when they should
