I feel like the US mindset is heavily opposed to monopolization. We don't like monopolies in markets, governments, or working arrangements. That doesn't make worker's unions bad or good, it just makes them one more player in a larger dynamic. There are lots of consequences to this. It also means that one can support unions while at the same time opposing a union.
