I have had to resist the temptation to thank ATMs before, and they don't model human interaction in a way which takes into account correlations between politeness and responsiveness... As for silly questions, I'd be more worried I might be giving some Kenyan outsourced labourer reviewing the adequacy of answers a laugh :)
