VS Code has utterly failed me for a bog-standard Core project. No jump-to-def, no Intellisense, zilch. So I expensed a nice KVM and dug the backup Windows laptop out of the closet and got to work without a hitch. I'm in the habit of preemptively ordering a Mac and a Windows machine for anyone on my team who's so unlucky as to even infrequently have changes to effect on both our iOS and backend systems.
