Does Emacs also have text editor?
- ArchOversight 3y agoNo, it's an operating system. Sadly they left out the text editor.
- krylon 3y agoYou can always open eshell and run ed(1), as it is the standard editor. ;-)
- sarahlwalks 3y agoThere actually is a text editor in there somewhere at least if you believe some of the MIT neckbeards. But you have to sort of tease it out with the proper meta key what-have-yous
- galangalalgol 3y agoYou can install vi into emacs, and vi is the best text editor.
- alexvoda 3y agoYou can however use a facsimile of Vim called Evil.
- jrgd 3y agoi once had a fax machine running on emac
- coliveira 3y agoNo, but some people insist in use it for this purpose.
- dist-epoch 3y agoIt does, but it's a pretty mediocre one.
- tmtvl 3y agoIt's no Acme but it's still pretty good. For me at least it's a sight better than modal editors like Kakoune, those just don't mesh well with how my brain works; Emacs' keyboard chording is far more pleasant.
