I've just been using my hosts file for the same effect, but this sound like a more elegant solution.
- msutherl 15y agoI use a combination of SelfControl.app, my hosts file and OpenDNS content filtering. I need 3 layers of protection.
- RegEx 15y agoActually it's only 2 layers of protection, as SelfControl.app just appends things to the hosts file.
- msutherl 15y agoI'm not entirely sure how it works, but SelfControl is resilient to you manually editing the host file while it's running. I know it runs a daemon and I'm not sure if it just keeps the host file updated or if it has a secondary blocking method.
