That's the direction my little family is going. My wife just got a nice electric cargo bike, with a back seat for the kid, and I'll soon get a personal EV too, either a bike or a skateboard. Meanwhile, I ride the (electric) light rail and (electric) streetcar every day - with all of our regular travel already electrified, replacing our sturdy old low-annoyance gas-burner with a new electric car hardly seems like a priority.
