It's basically a question of trade-off between performance and exact semantics, in some cases you will need to sacrifice minor semantic differences for meaningful performance gains. I think this is rather common when porting languages to "foreign" VMs and doesn't seem to be a showstopper. The application developers targeting WASM and other platforms of course have to test on all platforms and will avoid those cases with semantic differences.
