I'm not an expert on batteries, but iphone batteries are specifically known to be poorly rated (iirc 500 cycles till 80%). iPads & macs are I think 1000 cycles.

The interesting thing is by reducing the charging window (aka charging only between 30-70% for eg) you can greatly boost the cycles the battery will last.
