Elon Musk tells Rishi Sunak AI will put an end to work
- rogerkirkness 3y agoRevenue per employee has quietly increased by a factor of five over the last 25 years among S&P500 companies. If that continues or accelerates, the majority of economic growth and impact will happen in an extremely high labour leverage way. The only jobs remaining are ones that can't be scaled or automated, like childcare, trades, preparing food. We should definitely have a higher minimum wage, and some basic income.

- pschuegr 3y agoElon has a terrible track record with his "predictions" and even if you subscribe to the "he turns the impossible into the late" theory, the horizon on which he is accurate with this one seems likely to be pretty far off. Not to mention that he and his fellow oligarchs do their best to prevent the high marginal tax rates that would actually put an end to work.
- 3cats-in-a-coat 3y agoHe just says whatever stupid thing comes to his mind that will suck up the public's attention. That's basically his business model. There's no such thing as putting "end to jobs". Jobs will remain. But if humans can't do them, because AI does them better, humans are f**ked.
