Every 50th person in Vatican City has a ham call sign
- wrycoder 3y agoThat’s a lot of hams. And ham is not an acronym.
- h2odragon 3y agoappears "Population of Vatican City" was estimated by ChatGPT for this table. I suspect they're not quite as fond of radios as all the islanders for whom that license is important
- walski 3y agoYeah it was. But the official number [1] seems to be 764, so it's directionally correct. 1: https://www.vaticanstate.va/it/stato-governo/note-generali/popolazione.html https://www.vaticanstate.va/it/stato-governo/note-generali/p...
- belalebrar 3y agoWhat if your name is Hamilton?
- firesteelrain 3y agoThis is a weird set of metrics because ARRL reports per FCC counts 756,828 licensed ham radio operators. This lists 333,287,557. So this is either way wrong at 333million or of all time including dupes like people who were issued call signs and now SK or who abandoned old call signs and have new call signs.
- bscphil 3y agoThat's the population, not the number of radio operators. The number of call signs given for the USA is 1635406, or about 2.2 per (currently) licensed operator.
- firesteelrain 3y agoOh what a strange way to present it. But 1635406 is still wrong unless you mean ever granted then you are right
