Ask HN: What is the most fun vehicle you ever driven/piloted/skippered?
- breckenedge 3y agoPracticing spin recovery in a fully acrobatic Citabria. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_Champion_Citabria https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_Champion_Citabria
- JumpinJack_Cash 3y agoDoors open or closed?
- breckenedge 3y agoOoo i didn’t know doors open was an option. Thanks!
- JumpinJack_Cash 3y agoIt is Depending on where the hinges are, otherwise you have to remove the door beforehand in order to be sure that they don't get damaged in the process My aeroclub has a decent acrobatic bunch but I have never did any recovery manouver, nowadays I always opt for the motorized trikes or the autogyros in order to always be exoposed to the elements and feel the air. They are the motorbikes of the sky.
- BMc2020 3y agoAn underwater scooter. Basically a car battery, motor/propeller and two handles in a plastic case. Closest I've ever been to the kind of flying you experience in dreams.
- ttymck 3y agoJetski was thrilling but kinda underwhelming, you can really only go back and forth, turning is too slow at speed to be interesting. At least that was my impression. I drove a gas powered go kart once, it was more like an agile ATV. Had a roll cage. That was fun.
- tomcam 3y agoWas my Porsche 911, now a Tesla model Y. By a country mile.
- defrost 3y ago* PAC Cresco 720 highly modified former cropduster - could take off and land on a dime - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1_MO5Wfomks https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1_MO5Wfomks * OKA - seriously good off road traversal - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fwflmCkYO9Q https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fwflmCkYO9Q * Wabco Haulpak - every kid likes a giant Tonka truck and these paid for my room and board while I studied. As far as seriously fun goes, I've got my fingers crossed I might one day get a chance to have a go at a local home built DIY ground effect boat|plane: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ILbQHnHPnY https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ILbQHnHPnY https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=37964608 https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=37964608 - it's currently a bit dinged up.
