- 3cats-in-a-coat 3y agoDiesel generators are a much more robust and cheaper way to prevent blackouts if you compare the energy density of a lithium battery and oil, and the wide availability of cheap (comparatively) generators. Not to mention the logistics of shipping tons of batteries, over shipping a diesel generator and then fueling from the existing gas infrastructure. This is a nonsense proposition, but I guess Elon has to move goods and do PR, and abusing the victims of war is one of doing it.
