Why we're renaming 'Firefox accounts' to 'Mozilla accounts'

- karmakaze 3y agoWe keep wondering why Firefox doesn't make more headway. Now I'm wondering how much better it would be if instead, the company was renamed to Firefox. This is how a company with one main product focuses on that product to succeed. Only after success, can it rebrand and widen its breadth.
- jcrash 3y agoI agree, it's worked well for Google/Alphabet On top of that, I feel like the name Mozilla doesn't have half the positive name-recognition Firefox does.
- lproven 3y agoAllegedly, Firefox Sync is being extended to Thunderbird. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Timeline_of_DOS_operating_systems https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Timeline_of_DOS_operating_syst... It's late but it's meant to be coming. I for one really want it. It will use the same accounts, but officially Thunderbird is not a Mozilla project any more, it's just sponsored by MZLA. So, what I think they can't say is: this is so it works with things other than Firefox. It already does. I'm typing in Waterfox, with bookmarks imported via Firefox Sync.

- Kim_Bruning 3y agoI'm not a big fan of syncing my browser data through a 3rd party service to begin with. (So I don't do it). Broadening the attack surface doesn't improve things.
