This is commendable, of course. I just wish that politicians understood the extremely high cost of treating diseases today. Discovery of a single completely new drug costs many billions of dollars on average, and it may be in line to exceed the 10 billion USD tag this decade. Some of the costs get higher over time because of added regulations that in part reduce the chances of accidental harm, other costs increase because the easier problems have been solved already.
