- atourgates 3y agoSure, but the max frost-line even in Anchorage, Alaska is like 10-feet down. A 5-foot deep hole is gonna get you temperatures that a heat pump can function at 365 days a year in all of the continental United States, and most of Canada and Northern Europe.

- londons_explore 3y agoThere are mini oil-rig-style drilling machines that can drill a 1000 foot deep hole and put a pipe in it all in a few hours. The whole kit fits in a truck and can be operated by 2 people. Makes it pretty cheap.
