Blue-eyed humans have a single, common ancestor – ScienceDaily
- JoeAltmaier 3y agoOverreaching claim in the article: "It is one of several mutations ... which neither increases nor reduces a human's chance of survival." Well, it certainly increases their chances of reproducing! Which is the real measure. Blue-eyed people are so dang cute!
- al_borland 3y agoOne could also pretty effectively argue that it reduces the chance for survival, as blue eyes are more sensitive to light. In a time before sunglasses, where it was very sunny, brown eyes would be more advantageous, which would explain why the majority of the world has brown eyes. Blue eyes may look better, but they're functionally worse in bright environments.
