Andrew Ng: Big Tech inflating fears about AI risks to dominate the market
- jruohonen 3y ago"There are definitely large tech companies that would rather not have to try to compete with open source, so they're creating fear of AI leading to human extinction," he told the news outlet. "It's been a weapon for lobbyists to argue for legislation that would be very damaging to the open-source community."

- samuell 3y agoHe's apparently expanding on his thoughts here: https://twitter.com/AndrewYNg/status/1719474906138607650 https://twitter.com/AndrewYNg/status/1719474906138607650 Quoting a part I particularly agree on: "The right place to regulate AI is at the application layer. Requiring AI applications such as underwriting software, healthcare applications, self-driving, chat applications, etc. to meet stringent requirements, even pass audits, can ensure safety. But adding burdens to foundation model development unnecessarily slows down AI’s progress."
