It's not a good idea to say the word "Bankruptcy" on the phone with a credit card rep. I'm told it triggers all kinds of Bad Stuff behind the scenes. Not to mention, they want to negotiate with you. They have an obvious incentive to do so. You don't actually have to say the B-word - everyone understands the consequences of financial distress.
