Wharton MBA Driving for Uber/Lyft in LA [video]
- al_borland 3y agoIt sounds like she created this problem for herself. She took the most risky path; it didn't work out (which is the risk). Now she is overvaluing her experience as a consultant and her pride is pushing her to turn down jobs she feels she is overqualified for, so she's choosing to be an Uber driver. This isn't her only option, she seems to be closing all the open doors that are put in front of her.
- Quinzel 3y agoI did an MBA about a year ago and specialised in digital transformation. I feel it was the biggest waste of money I have ever spent and I’ve wasted a lot of money, on a lot of stupid shit over the years. What she says about people not hiring for strategy resonates though - she was on point about that. I’m thankfully not driving Ubers, but I feel like I could/should be doing better career wise than I actually am. I had 2 science degree’s prior to the MBA, and I’ve just finished a psych one with my current GPA sitting at 8.0 and I’ve been accepted into a competitive entry Masters program for psychology. All of my study I did while working full time. Which I thought showed good time management and lots of motivation… but all job’s I’ve applied for recently have turned me down and said “we’re concerned you would be bored in this job” -.-
- al_borland 3y agoIf the feedback you're getting from the job market is that too much education is seen as an obstacle to landing a job, why are you continuing to collect more degrees? Wont't that make the situation worse? It might be worth holding back some of those degrees when applying and only listing the relevant ones.
- Quinzel 3y agoYeah, I think in future I will only list ones that I think are relevant to the job I’m applying for. I don’t plan to quit studying, it keeps me grounded and focused and I enjoy it.
