I don't mean this with any disrespect, but to me this sound a bit like rambling. The author goes on a bit of a journey but I still believe he's at a point where they are still figuring out this software development thing. It's fine and I think sometimes taking a step back and taking a break can greatly improve how you approach the work you do - if you have the luxury of taking a break and doing a reset.
