Funny way of putting "I am stupefied people pay actual, real world money for a laptop with soldered on storage".
- blackoil 3y agoLaptops may still make some sense, but a desktop!! You can easily get 2x value going with an assembled.
- mschuster91 3y agoSoldered CPU/memory makes sense for performance. Part of why Apple's M SoCs blow Intel/AMD away so hard is that the physical signal paths are incredibly short and don't have physical sockets in their way, so way better signal integrity and less worrying about EMI.
- chx 3y ago> Soldered CPU/memory makes sense for performance. And I have talked about storage.
- mschuster91 3y agoYou wrote "soldered RAM", and besides, the argument is just as valid for storage given today's transfer bus speeds.
- chx 3y agothat was my parent, I didn't.
