Even this nakedly biased article cannot totally hide the main issue:
> At the same time, hundreds of thousands of protesters rally at demonstrations that are billed as expressions of support of Palestinian civilians, but that many, both Jewish and non-Jewish, perceive as shows of Jew-hatred and solidarity with Hamas despite its recent displays of extreme barbarism against Israelis.
There are a lot of people who label any support for Palestinians as support for Hamas, and I don't think most of that is being done in good faith. Thus, some of the "Pro-Hamas sentiment" in the headline is a real problem, but, from what I can tell, most of what is being labeled as such, however, is simply people recognizing that Palestinians also have moral worth, which is a position a lot of people currently feel emboldened to deny or condemn as anti-semitic.
It's absurd and depressing how many people are willing to accept the perverse logic of "because there was a terrible terrorist attack against Israel and Israeli civilians were killed, anything it visits upon Palestinian civilians in Gaza in recompense and retribution is justified, and anyone who wants to criticize the Israeli response is a bigot and a terrorist sympathizer".
A double standard as to which innocents matter is on full display, and people who consider themselves cosmopolitan, liberal, who would pooh-pooh such jingoism if it was expressed on the part of the United States, for example, are partaking and indulging fully of that kind of attitude w/r/t this conflict.
