The comparison with M2 is not very useful at this point. Throughout the presentation, the gains were something like 15-20% in some areas. Even if they do their own chips, Apple cannot achieve a revolutionary performance gain year over year, that's why between two generations we'll see something like this for a long time. And since their idea is for people to be using Macs for many years, it makes sense to compare it to older generations to try and persuade people to do the upgrade.
