Linux Foundation Adopting Terraform Fork Provokes Ire of HashiCorp CEO
- rapnie 3y agoHashicorp open-sourced, reaped the benefits, knew the risks of changing position afterwards, and now their CEO continues on crazy rants to further the reputation damage. Open source proved people have a choice. The contributors to Hashicorp repo's before the license change weren't too happy either. But they also should know the risk of contributing to corporate-backed permissive software. And they managed to pull off a success fork, mitigating the risk. The open source model worked as it should. Kudos! Keep the OSS coming, folks (maybe not in SV? Who cares). Or better, choose free software and further reduce the risk of all this drama.
- a_vanderbilt 3y agoI called this outcome back when they first announced their licensing changes. Unlike say Redhat, there is very little locking people into using Hashicorp's distribution of Terraform.
