Yeah I thought simplistic Cortex A72 > A55 > A53 (although the A55 is a relatively new Arm core). Perhaps differences here are caused by silicon process used for the SoC on this particular board, RAM bandwidth (or size), or some core tweaks like cache sizes? Pretty beefy for a Pi Zero sized (& priced) board though.
