This is less about AI and more about usage of personal data. Some form of GDPR is still in effect in the UK and this law grants people control over how their personal data is used and processed. This company is taking user's personal data (such as pictures and their likeness which can be considered a unique identifier) and is using them in a way that the data subjects did not consent to and is generally against their interest. That is the problem. Whether it's done with AI or with manual labor is irrelevant.
