False Vacuum Decay
- bell-cot 3y agoCool...but I wouldn't recommend any worrying about it, nor bothering to purchase an insurance policy against it.
- h2odragon 3y agoI didn't see much discussion of why anyone thinks a lower energy vacuum state might exist or be reachable. A rouge planet traveling at 3/4 light speed might suddenly hit Earth, too: but we haven't any real reason to suspect such and event, do we? Is our need for "the world will end!" boogeymen really so dire?
- bell-cot 3y ago> Is our need for "the world will end!"... Consider the popularity (and profitability) of fictional works in which that threat looms large.
- LargoLasskhyfv 3y agoI'd expect anything asteroid-, moonlet-, moon-, planetlike traveling at 3/4 lightspeed to glow rather intense, thus not suddenly hitting, because visible long before impact.
