They’re getting hit on both ends of the broadband market. Nobody who cares about speeds and feeds is going with Comcast if fiber is available. And an increasing number of those who don’t care about speeds and feeds are dropping home internet completely and just relying on mobile.
- ryandrake 3y agoI would think that with the growing popularity of video streaming that fewer and fewer people would be satisfied with downgrading to mobile internet. Who the hell is streaming multiple 4K videos over a single Verizon data plan?? If you don’t have fiber available and you even remotely care about your internet performance, pretty much your only choice is bending over for your cable monopoly.
- patch_cable 3y agoI suspect not that many care about 4K streaming. Many might actually be doing the majority of their consumption on their phones in the first place.
- s1artibartfast 3y agoIndeed, I have never met a person in meatspace that cared about 4k, let alone having multiple running at once.
- prepend 3y agoI’m old and I mainly torrent and I typically download the lowest resolution videos at 720p or even 480p. I have 4k monitors and screens. I just don’t care for most content. I have some high quality stuff, but typically I don’t want celebrity jeopardy in ultra high def.
- prepend 3y agoI have an adult child and they don’t watch 4k feeds. They ignore the tv and large screens and just sit in a chair or lie on a bed with their phone. Even with friends they’ll either separately use phones or sit next to each other and look at a single screen. Some of their friends don’t even have a computer and either only have one at work, or do work that fits only on their phone.
