I don't understand how this article can be so remiss as to lack a map with some kind of depiction of where it currently lies under the sea, where it probably was at various stages of history when it was above-water, etc.

Here is a video showing where it is projected to have been. The 3000 mile wide description seems just a big hyperbolic.
