I'm building a B2B2C marketplace in my free time and I'm blown away by the practicality of this stack. Due to longevity of Django, every problem I encounter is just a search away. DRF makes it dead simple to add REST APIs.
The Admin panel is a golden cherry on top.
- scottwick 3y agoYeah, this is exactly what I do as well. I'd be curious to hear more about your deployment process, specifically how you get your Docker image onto the VPS. Do you just push to a registry like DockerHub and then pull it down on the VPS?
- FlyingSnake 3y agoYes, I use GH actions to push it to a registry and then manually pull it on the VPS. I’m sure there are better ways to automate this but I’m too lazy at this point to implement them.
- klecansky 3y agoYou can use Watchtower (https://containrrr.dev/watchtower/ https://containrrr.dev/watchtower/) that solves problem of manual pulling on VPS.
- quickthrower2 3y agoSounds good. Do you do type checking? DB?
- FlyingSnake 3y agoYes, using mypy and planning to check out Ruff instead. PostgreSQL for prod DB, SQLite for local dev.
- diarrhea 3y agomypy and ruff are complementary, and as far as I know have no overlap. Strongly recommend using both.
