"Then, believe it or not, you also read the documentation the way it should be read and not just snippets here and there in the hopes that you can glance a 1-line remedy to your existential pain." I'm reading "Debugging" by Agan and the first subrule under the first rule "Know the system" is "Read the manual." This was a surprisingly liberating concept for me as a new programmer -- allowing myself the time to do this during a project as a legitimate strategy instead of just looking for that snippet.
