Here in Germany we have some laws that makes dangerous, aggressive by nature, dogs not to be owned/sold/bought legally.
With minor dangerously dogs, one can make a dog's personality test, where the dogs are made angry on purpose. If they bark/behave (very) angry - then, you're not allowed to keep them.
It's a good solution. Dogs like caucasian ovcharka, with a very strong territorial behavior are way to dangerous to be owned by people. If I take a look at some dog owners, I have to think about who's owning whom actually. One of the caliper of an caucasian ovcharka is a deadly, uncontrollable weapon. Even experienced hands can't handle them properly.
So robo-dogs is a solution, because the personality is a matter of the firmware.
- amichail 3y agoDon't some people own dogs for personal protection? And so they are in essence used as weapons?
- theGeatZhopa 3y agoYes, some do. But that, at least in Germany, are professionally trained (big and capable to do damage) dogs with good and easy personality that are handled by professionals. Like with ordinary weapons, too. Not everyone have the knowledge and abilities to handle that. So the other scenario where single women is afraid, gets herself a dog for protection - yes, but these dogs are rather not aggressive, good and very easy personality. They aren't trained to run-fetch-imobilize. So, may be to look at it as "pepperspray/self defense"-level and "search&destroy"-level Everything more that pepperspray is illegal and/or needs special allowance. Everything like pepperspray is painful, but not dangerous. And pepperspray can also be seen as a weapon, while it's not really is one..
