Granted, I'm probably an outlier here since I'm not a big consumer of the type of media they're talking about, but it seems like affordability and convenience would be much bigger factors. Keep in mind that people were doing things like sharing accounts even when streaming services were undergoing massive growth. It doesn't sound like they had much concern about artists or other people working behind the scenes.
