- martin_a 3y agoI miss mid 2000s vocal trance. Let's see what Spotify has to offer on that.
- gopher_space 3y agoSade, dis-moi?
- mock-possum 3y agoI feel like enigma is more worldbeat than vocal trance though
- Shish2k 3y agoSomehow I haven’t found anything as good as the internet radio streams that I was listening to with Winamp back in the day… alas now I can’t even remember the name of the big trance / electronic / etc internet-radio group-of-stations website (Is internet-radio still a thing? Like dedicated internet-radio stations, as opposed to IRL-radio stations who happen to have a web player. I don’t even remember the name of the shoutcast index, and shoutcast itself seems to have been bought out several times over. My gut tells me that on-demand streaming like spotify + podcasts have probably totally killed the space that internet radio used to occupy...)
- kodapoda 3y agoInternet radio is still a thing! I have recently re-discovered it and now use it daily as background music. If you buy smart speakers that can stream radio (e.g. Heos/Denon), you can use the free TuneIn internet radio service in their app and search for whatever obscure music you are interested in. I just looked up "vocal trance" and there are at least a dozen matches, including stations that have "Vocal Trance" in their name, e.g. "FM 98.5 of Vocal Trance Live". I am not familiar with the genre though so can't vouch for quality.
- martin_a 3y agoI had some "Future Trance" CDs that I was listening up and down till I got my first own computer + decent internet and was then hooked up to some 96 kb stream. :-D Really can't say where the break was, where I ditched WinAmp/Foobar 2000 and had only Spotify left. Will have to look into internet radio, the other commenter is very positive about that.
- JetSpiegel 3y ago> Like dedicated internet-radio stations, as opposed to IRL-radio stations who happen to have a web player. Digitally Imported is still good, speaking as a happy customer.
- noisem4ker 3y ago> the big trance / electronic / etc internet-radio group-of-stations website DI.FM? They're still up, although I don't know how up-to-date their rotation is. I stopped listening to their "stations" when they stopped being a radio, and became a sort of an on-demand streaming service, where every user is fed a different random playlist, and what one hears when tuning into a station is not what everyone else is hearing. They admittedly switched their business in order to pay less taxes, but it completely destroyed the feeling of social connection with other listeners for me. On top of that, closing the lively forums, which provided a comment section for all tracks and shows played on the stations, sure did not help. In retrospect, freeloading those 96kbps mp3 / 64kbps wma / 48kbps aac streams was a good experience; today it's not the same anymore. (Big off topic, but I don't care much. Those not interested probably collapsed this comment section at its root and are not reading this anyway.)
