I once figured out how to identify when my story was being leaked via word of mouth. The method i used was to give a different story to each person, but i was shown a better method which was to change one detail in the story. This is so that the person who leaked can be tracked back to the source.
The reason i mention this is because the developer could use a similar method. rather than being so blatant about exposing the theft, the most damaging method is to introduce a random chance of seeing goatse, say one in 10. That way the thieves will not detect the sabotage, and cannot insulate themselves from the consequences.

- sunnybeetroot 3y agoThis is how some catches internal leakers. Different people get told different things like product release dates.
- capableweb 3y agoYeah, also common to introduce tiny difference in a couple of letters in internal document releases as well, so when screenshots end up on the public internet, you know exactly who took it.
- Jeff_Brown 3y agoThere's a word for this! Cool. I first learned about it from Game of Thrones, but having a word for things usually makes them easier to remember. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qnMZuOe3r_k https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qnMZuOe3r_k
