But according to Governor Hochul and Eric Adams, they were a "Sanctuary city." What happened?
- happytoexplain 3y agoSorry if it wasn't your intent, but this comes off as sarcastic/uncharitable. Why does offering plane tickets to spread out the load make it not a sanctuary city? The ends sound like a reasonable goal to me, even if the strategy might not work. The planes aren't bringing them back to their home countries. They aren't trying to get rid of all their migrants - they are just overloaded. They would in fact be helping even more migrants by not overloading societal infrastructure in one location.
- tomohelix 3y agoI think because this is literally the same bussing strategy texas was doing and got criticized for, except one is on a bus and the other is a plane. In both cases, the migrants choose their final destination within the US and is provided a free ride to that location with food and water. One may argue the bus is a much harsher trip than a plane since it takes longer, but that is debatable imo.
