A few notes: 1. A raspberry pi was picked as a single point failure point. This will be a headache within 24 months. 2. Daily power/thermal cycles might age some things more than a steady thermal load of always being on. Not a big deal and optimizing power consumption is totally reasonable, but a trade to track.
