Sam Bankman-Fried is going to talk himself right into jail
- londons_explore 3y agoThis writing style is great - and necessary - to turn a rather dull topic into interesting reading. I want to see how this author handles things more exciting than court cases!
- LargeTomato 3y agoThe tone in this article is annoying and distracting. Why did the editor of the verge allow this article to be published? This reads like a weird blog post, not a professional piece of journalism. Then again, it's the Verge and it's 2023. Why expect journalism in the first place?
- xyst 3y agoThe author probably lost their savings investing with Sam Bankman Fried/FTX. Person has an axe to grind.
- TradingPlaces 3y agoElizabeth Lopatto’s coverage has been the best. I’ve been trying to ignore the trial, but she keeps sucking me back in.
- dang 3y agoI moved most comments moved to https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=38037385 https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=38037385, which is currently on the front page and has a much less baity title. (I left the comments here that are specific to this article.)
- eli 3y agoLiz Lopatto is a national treasure
- ChrisMarshallNY 3y ago> This meant that prosecutor Danielle Sassoon got a crack at him, and boy howdy, she beat him like a piñata. My favorite line.
- FireBeyond 3y agoMine was: > In her cross, she simply unhinged her jaw and ate [him].
- denton-scratch 3y ago> unhinged her jaw and ate [him]. I think that must be a reference to Python.
- Doctor_Fegg 3y agoReally very good indeed. From my time as a magazine editor, you only come across people who can write that well once in a blue moon. This line made me laugh out loud: > Though the reporting in Going Infinite suggests that Bankman-Fried is an unrestrained sociopath, Lewis’s general attitude toward Bankman-Fried may be best summed up as “I love my gamer son.”
- mholm 3y agoI've really enjoyed many journalist's takes on SBF/FTX, because it really seems like they're all having fun with it. This is an excellent example
- ThePowerOfFuet 3y agoHe already has.
